Sheri Katz, DDS Biography

Founder of our Practice

A Love for Dentistry

Dr. Katz began her dental career as a dental hygienist at the age of 19 and knew right away she wanted to be a dentist. In 1974, Dr. Katz moved to Atlanta to attend Emory University School of Dentistry. She began practicing dentistry in 1978. Over her career in general and restorative dentistry, Dr. Katz developed a loyal patient base who loved her chairside manners and caring spirit.  Dr. Katz enjoys helping patients improve their overall health and quality of life. Through continued training, Dr. Katz gained a deeper understand of how a patient’s breathing can impact their quality of sleep which impacts many areas of their health.  Dr. Katz began practicing dental sleep medicine in 1999.  She expanded her services to treating patients suffering from obstructive sleep apnea and snoring through oral appliance therapy.  In 2000, Dr. Katz became a diplomate of the America Board of Dental Sleep Medicine and began working with Emory University’s Sleep Center.

A Pioneer in Dental Sleep Medicine

Dr. Katz is well known amongst the sleep medical community and has served as past president and on the board of directors of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.     She has presented national educational programs and has published numerous case studies to train other dentists.  Dr. Katz has had numerous articles published in medical journals and she has been featured in the New York Times, Cosmopolitan, The Washington Post, and other popular publications.  Dr. Katz is a sought-out speaker at sleep medicine conferences, symposiums and study clubs.

Dr. Katz personally trained Dr. Soulimiotis over a period of 4 years to prepare him to assume the responsibility of her practice and patient care. Currently, Dr. Katz serves as a clinical advisor to the practice and is active in the education and training of staff.  Additionally, Dr. Katz is an adjunct assistant professor at Emory University Department of Medicine. She enjoys teaching physicians dental treatments options available for the treatment of patients’ sleep issues.

A Creative Grandmother 

Outside of work Dr. Katz enjoys spending time with her husband, her children and especially her grandchildren.  One of her other loves is traveling especially to the beach.
